However to make use of Push Notifications you'll need to give Tweetings your account password to check for updates on your behalf. If you're not comfortable with that, you can still use Tweetings just not with push notifications.

What does Tweetings push?

Tweetings monitors your replies and direct messages on your behalf from the last DM or mention that you recieved whilst using Tweetings.
If you get 2 replies since you last used Tweetings, the number 2 will be pushed to your phone. If you then get an additional reply after that, your phone will then display 3 in the badge. In fact this will keep on incrementing* until you load Tweetings again at which point it will reset to 0 again assuming you've read the notifications Tweetings has pushed to you
On average we check for new messages to push every 5-7 minutes, but this can be varied depending on the current Twitter API response time and load. We strictly adhere to Twitter rate limiting, so if you've used your account a lot in the last hour you might not get any pushes for a while

What type of notifications does Tweetings support?

In version 1.0, Tweetings supported badge push notifications only, that's the red circle that apppears on the Application icon
Version 1.1, added additional sound notification support, which can be turned off from the iPhone settings app. You can choose what notification sound you wish to recieve (you need to refresh your timeline once for our servers to register that you've changed the sound). You can use one of a number of custom sounds or select your iPhone default notification sound
Version 1.2, added support for text alert messages on the screen and from within Tweetings settings you can turn on or off any of the three types of push alert (badge, sound and alert)

Secure

We send your password over a secure SSL connection to our servers so that we can monitor your message counts and push the details to your iPhone automatically on your behalf. This system is automated and we treat your privacy very seriously, and we promise to keep your account information secure.
To remove your account information all you have to do is delete the password from the Tweetings settings, we'll stop updating... it's that simple!
In addition to this we also store store your information in an encrpyted state.
*Tweetings will only push up to the number 100 to your phone, after this time it will stop pushing until you next load Tweetings
